Janet Mary Cumming Roberton Paterson Milner

22 Dec 1937 - 16 Dec 2025

Born in Twickenham, London on 22 December 1937 and lived in Napier, New Zealand from 1960.  Passed away on 16 December 2025 at Princess Alexandra Retirement Village, just shy of her 88 th birthday.  Devoted wife of Colin, much-loved mother of Stewart, Malcolm, Diane, Alison and James (and partners), extremely proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a champion for many who sought her wisdom and counsel over the years. 

A memorial service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held at Dunstall’s Funeral Services, Edwardes Street, Napier on Thursday 19 th February 2025 at 2pm. A live stream of the service will be available, at dunstalls.co.nz With many thanks to the staff at Princess Alexandra for their care, compassion and kindness over the past two years. Janet, you were the strong twin tasked with looking after my mum; you went on to look after so many. Always strong and caring and seeking the truth, values you lived by that I admire so deeply. We only met for a few hours so this powerful bond I sense is from the deepest of places. Genetic. Spiritual. Because we both loved the same person more than these words can ever know.

Thanks for being my mums best friend and our other mother/grandmother/aunty x so many of my Napier memories include the you and the Milner family. Rest now xx
