Courageous Kevin passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones.

Treasured ‘boyfriend’ of Catherine, loved father of India, respected and loved friend and mentor of Anita and David, loved father-in-law to Shawna and John, adored ‘big Poppa’ of William, Shawn, Ben and Ada.

Kevin has asked for a colourful funeral ‘no black’.

Kevin’s service was held at the Napier Sailing Club, 36 West Quay, Ahuriri, on Tuesday April 7, 2015 at 1.00pm.

So many friends and workmates have surrounded us with love and support which made Kevin’s journey more tolerable. Very special thanks to Jody Jordan, Hilkka Sheffield and the wonderful V6 team, the staff of HBDHB Urology team, especially Nelson and V4, and the A3 and A4 teams who treated Kev with dignity and respect. The amazing Cranford Hospice team enabled care for Kevin at home, as he wished (Marie B you were his star).

Kevin has asked that in lieu of flowers, could a donation be made to Cranford Hospice with thanks,  via www.crandfordhospice.org.nz

Kevin will always be remembered by the class of '65 at Opotiki College. Who could forget that laugh - usually when we were not supposed to be laughing! You did us proud Kevin.

Catherine, we were out of town and are saddened to hear that the good fight is finally over. All the best to you and the family. I personally found my contacts with Kevin through my work very professional with the tricky isues that arose.

No family could be more proud of a man who had achieved so much in his life. A much loved father of India of whom he was so proud. A special son to Daphne, and a much loved brother, brother-in-law, and friend of Larry and Maree, Glenys, Murray and Vicki and all his nephews and nieces.Many wonderful memories will be treasured by us all.

Great memories of our time working together in Wellington through the late 1970's and 80's. I was saddened to learn of your passing but am sure you faced your challenge with the same grit and determination you had in your Police work. Even at the worst times we could still expect a smile and cheery comment to keep us on track. My deepest sympathy to you and to your loved ones..

Dear Catherine and all Kev's family.
It saddens me to learn of Kevins passing,the time Iwas in the Bay Kevin was good fun and a good support to my daughter Donna until her passing.We had lots of good fun at the East Pier pub too.
I hope you all care and support each other through this difficult time.
Catherine my intention is to come up with Juliet for a visit and catchup and we could have a cheeky few wines.I'm sure Kevin won't mind.

Another angel taken too soon. Kev you were a big friendly giant with a huge heart and soft soul. You will be greatly missed by all who knew you.
