Dear Elaine, Heather and Ken
Visits to Napier will not be the same without seeing your lovely husband and father. It was moving that he recalled things about my father and mother with his wonderful memory.
I hope that the funeral was a time of comfort for you all. I'm imagining that it will have been huge.
God bless.

To Elaine
Was it coincidence that I sat re-reading Ernest's Life Story that very day he passed away (unbeknown to me at the time) and felt compelled to write to you both and congratulate you on the milestones achieved in your life together and Ernest reaching the age of 98. And now I reflect further on how wonderful those Oamaru days were especially in Columba and Ernest's contribution. I will always be grateful for that ,providing the environment for a secure and happy childhood that has been a solid foundation for when I moved out into the wider world a couple of years after Ernest commenced his ministry there. Peace and love to you Elaine & family
My Sincere and loving sympathy Elaine, to you and your family in the loss of of Our reverend Ernie Brown. His ministry was such that many folk in Columba parish and wider Oamaru too, benefited from his generous spirit and wise counsel : his concern for people, his great sense of fun. We who knew him will cherish his memory and are better for having known him. Rest now dear friend with the Lord and may He comfort and sustain you all.
Thinking of the family at this time. I have some great memories of Rev Brown and the great chats that we used to have.
Thinking of you all as you farewell Rev Brown today especially Krissy...I have many memories of Bible Class camps and combined services with Eveline too. He was a great minister, going back to when he officiated at Mum and Dad's marriage. Thoughts and prayers are with you. Sue Pearce (nee Joiner)
A great life, have great memories of your time in Oamaru.
Sincere condolences to all the family and especially Alana & family

I thought I knew what I was going to say but seeing the beautiful picture of Ernest at the top of this page has thrown me and has made me realise in force once again what has been lost. We were blessed to have known, and loved, Ernest. He baptised my children, he showed my daughter how (NOT) to eat spaghetti, he made us laugh, he was the epitome of a truly good and Godly person, he was marvellous. We all loved him. Tabitha's first comment on hearing of his passing was about his wonderful yellow wig and it is an image I will carry of Ernest for ever. The world, the family, and my own family here in the UK have lost a bit of joy and it is very sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to the whole of the Brown family. Ernest, we will truly miss you. Now Ernest I must go off to do my days work for the Church which is all due to you......Much love all. Zoe, Tabitha and Toby

As I pay tribute to Ernest, I am reminded of the love and care he showed to me when I was a newly ordained minister - over 40 years ago now. He was always available and had such good advice about everything. In many ways, he was the prototype of what a good supervisor should be. The care he showed me then has inspired me to do lots of work in supervision and to supervise many other ministers. We now requite all ministers to have supervision. Well done - good and faithful servant. My love to Elaine and the family.
Shalom, Sue Jacobi (Rev).
It was indeed a most wonderful blessings to have met Rev Ernest. No words can describe his passion for Bible work and the support he has given to Bible Society NZ for over 50 years - to us he is a legend!
Praying for comfort for you all and thank you for sharing Rev Ernest with us.
