Mr James Roger Frew (Roger)

On 25 December 2014 at Gracelands Hospital, Hastings.

Much loved and loving husband of Maureen (nee Dixon).

Loving father to Cynthia and Paul, Allison and Paul, Tony and Sandra.

Grandad to Rebecca, Ashleigh and Courtney, Brodie and Leonie, Michael and Nicole, and Great Grandad of Caleb.

Loved Stepfather of Anne, Raewyn, Michael and Jessica. Grandad Roger of Caitlin, Lauren and Amelia.

A lifetime of pain so bravely borne.

A Nautical service to honour Roger’s life was held at The Dunstall Memorial Chapel, Edwardes Street Napier, on Monday 29 December 2014 at 11am followed by a private cremation.

In Lieu of flowers donations to St John Ambulance or to “The Jane Gifford Restoration Fund” would be gratefully received.

Despite chronic pain over the years, Roger was always cheerful and outgoing and a great host. He was always willing and generous with his ideas and assistance for any task, large or small, and someone we were proud to call a true friend. He will be remembered with wamth and affection.

We are saddened to hear of Roger's passing. For someone who so often dealt with various ailments (and to our understanding never complained of them), we feel confident he is now at peace.

We will remember Roger, most notably, for his hospitality. He, and Maureen, gave up their home to Laura and I when we first arrived in NZ, and a dinner invitation or an outing of some kind became commonplace. Roger helped introduce me to the great game of rugby, showed me Eden Park and the passion that New Zealanders have for their teams. Roger was a nice man who extended kindness to newcomers. We will cherish that about him.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the friends and family of Roger Frew. I'm sending you a great, big, Canadian hug Maureen!
