There are no words to say…
Grandad has left us here on earth to join Nana and his beloved dogs, Ollie, Mollie and Sam ????
While this day was not unexpected, it crept up far faster than any of us anticipated.
I will cherish the past eight months, where Grandad and I connected in a way we never had before because of his ill health and living with us in the Mighty Manawat?. It was a privilege to support and guide him through the minefield that is cancer. As you can imagine, there were plenty of laughs, frustrations and tears as we navigated the changing roles of granddaughter and caregiver. For both of us, I don’t think there were any boundaries left by the end! ????
I will be forever honoured that the man who embraced me through my terrible teenage years, stood beside me during some of the toughest times in my life, ultimately trusted me to the very end, knowing I had him.
I was his loudest advocate when it came to his health and wellbeing, and I take comfort in knowing he knew that. ????
I feel his peace, and I know Nana has already taken the reins back. No doubt he’ll be receiving plenty of lectures about his hobby (or addiction!) with plants.
While my heart is broken, it is also complete, knowing that Nana and Grandad are together again ????
Rest easy, Grandad. Thank you for everything. Love you both to infinity and beyond xxx
