Passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in Kinloch Taupo on the 2 nd February 2025.

Much loved husband of Carol. Treasured Dad and Father-in-law of Tina and Richard, Nicky and Graham and Jason. Adored Grandfather of Corey, Holly, Caleb, Hannah and Caitlyn. Great Granddad of Tia.

A funeral service for Mark will be held at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Osier Road, Greenmeadows on Tuesday 11 th February at 11am followed by interment at Western Hills Cemetery, Clyde Jeffery Drive, Poraiti.

I first met Mark in the early 1990’s when I was young surveyor in DoSLI, and then later - with Terralink - I had more regular contact with him when he managed the Napier Office and I was a Regional Surveyor based in Wellington.
Mark was an extremely capable and thorough surveyor, with an eye for detail, producing very accurate and complete survey work. Using his many local contacts in the community, he was able to generate work for the Terralink office, and then his own business when Terralink closed.
Mark was always willing to offer his help and go the extra distance if you needed something, and always asked how you were doing personally and work-wise.
In recent years I had annual catchups with Mark when ordering survey supplies. We always yarned about old times, the state of the survey system, and what was wrong with the current national sporting teams depending on what had recently happened in the respective sporting arena.
I shall miss our contacts and chats.

Deepest sympathy to you Carol and your family. Marks funeral was beautiful and he was a well loved and respected man.

Great guy worked most of our survey lives in parallel him in Napier and me in Wellington.
Never let me forget that he was a month older than me. Mark you leave a lot of good friends behind from Lands & Survey, Survey and Land Information and Terralink. You were highly regarded by all your survey colleagues and a lot of fun to be around. You were a great team man always dependable in a sticky situation.

Carol & Family,
Our sincere condolences at Mark's passing. I shall be forever grateful to Mark as my first experiences as a cadet surveyor were with him. He was an enjoyable work companion and his professionalism impressed me and set the standard to which I always tried to attain.
Unfortunately we shall be away on Tuesday so unable to be present to farewell Mark.
