Passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024 at his home.

Dearly loved husband of Heather.

Adored father and grandfather of Alison, Zoë, Olivia, Tabitha, and Toby.

A service for Ken was held at St Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Tennyson Street, Napier on Friday February 2 at 11 am followed by an interment at Western Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to Cranford Hospice may be left  via www.cranfordhospice.org.nz

Ken's wonderful approach to life was apparent to us not only during his Napier Rotary years but also knowing that he had instigated the Hawke's Bay Branch of the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs. We had some inkling of his outstanding career in the United Kingdom before it continued during his time in New Zealand. His friendship was valued.

Ken: such a big part of our family life, growing up. Your huge personality, distinctive voice and warm laugh.
Alison & Zoe: some of the best memories of my childhood with you and your parents (Tummy buttons! Wellies! getting stuck in the mud! torch touch! Langridge, Granborough, Winsley).
Olivia, Tabitha, Toby: what an awesome grand father you have known!

We were so sorry to hear of Ken's passing. We send our condolences and all our love to the whole family at this sad time. We are so sorry that we are unable to make it to his funeral.

A memory that really stands out to us is of the great kindness that Ken showed in helping both Marjorie and Peg as they got older. It was extremely good of him and not something he had to do, but chose to do. It's a good example of the thoughtful, and caring, person that he was and we are forever grateful. We will miss him.

Very happy and cherished memories of Ken & Judy in Granborough, the village where I grew up with Zoe & Alison. Ken was a wonderful man, we will miss you, rest in peace now xx

We were very saddened to hear about the passing of our Uncle Ken. Although we didn't spend as much time as we would have liked with him, because we lived on the other side of the world growing up, we both have fond memories of him. One of these being, at Anna's wedding in Nelson 2007, when Ken was a fantastic and charismatic Master of Ceremonies. We also have heard happy memories from our cousin Zoe about her childhood with her beloved father and how precious 'Jumpsey', (Ken) was to Bug and Toby (his grandchildren). We are sorry we weren't able to travel from the UK and France for this occasion, but we will be watching it on the live stream. Sending lots of love to the family. From Anna and Natasha

We will miss all those deep discussions we had on curing the world’s ills. We are both lucky to have travelled this world far and wide. Now you are on a new journey into the unknown. Keep that light a-shining. As you have illuminated so many of us, and will continue illuminating us.

I just wanted to say I was sorry to hear about Ken. I've missed seeing his cheerful smile at the early morning service. He will be missed by many. I'm thinking of you all at this sad time.
