Passed away peacefully at Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital after a long battle on 11 January 2024 aged 85.

Dearly beloved husband and best friend to Carol for 63 years.

Loved father and father-in-law to Tony and Fi, Steve and Karyn, and Marie and Brent. Treasured Pops to Laura and his step-grandchildren.

Adored big brother to Margaret (dec), Peter and Marie.

Special thanks to Father Barry and the parishioners of St Thomas More, Del from Access, Frank for all the oxygen deliveries and also to St Johns, ED, A3, A4 and ICU for their exemplary care to allow Mike to die with dignity.

Rosary was held at St Thomas More Catholic Church, Wycliffe Street, Onekawa, Napier, on Monday 15 th January 7pm followed by a Requiem Mass celebrating Mike’s life on Tuesday 16 th January at 10:30am.

A private family burial will follow.

We would love to be with you all at this time Mike was a wonderful husband father to his family and soulmate to Carol and know he will be sadly missed by you all. We have fond memories of the times we shared with you all when we were in the Noth Island and the many extended family times when you could join us all in Christchurch. Sorry we can't be there today but thinking of you all while watching live-stream. Rest easy Mike, now at peace.

Carol and family. My deepest and prayerful sympathy on hearing the news of Mike's death. He was a truly remarkable person and gave so generously to so many people over many years. His commitment to the Church and other organisations he was involved with was truly admirable. Carol, I am with you in spirit as you farewell Mike. It was a privilege to have known and worked with Mike during my 6 years in Napier. Your commitment to each other was a source of inspiration. May he now rest in peace and may you Carol, receive all the support you need at this time.
