Peacefully on the 27 th December 2023 at Hawke’s Bay Regional Hospital, aged 84. Loved son of the late Ron and Marjorie, brother of Phil and Nigel.
Dearly loved husband of Sue for over 60 years, cherished father and father in law of Diana and
Peter, Liz and John, Fiona and Roger (deceased), Jon and Anja, Rachel and Darren. Loved and
respected Grandad to Rebecca (Robinson); Hugh, Anna, Tom, Emma (Symons); Tim, Zoe (Scott);
Jacob, Grace (Read), Suzanna Brandt; Arnold, Lennox, Henry, Brooke (Cuneen).
Always grateful for faithful friends, he loved his community and was a man of service. JP for more
than 30 years. Sharp and witty till the very end.
A celebration of Mark’s life was held at St. Columba’s Presbyterian Church, Gloucester Street,
Taradale on Wednesday 3 rd January 2024 at 11am.

Have just watched Mark's farewell. What a wonderful tribute to a great husband, father and friend to so many. Love to you all. Happy memories of our time in Rotary.

Sue and Family,
Just wanted to pay our respects publicly to Mark.
As you know my wife Hettie and I are in South Africa and will be joining you on-line.
I got to know Mark on the tour to South Africa in 1995 for the Rugby World Cup where I met my wife. To be here now brings back many great memories of that tour and the many laughs we all had, lead by Mark.
Mark was a great friend of my father Kel.
He was a great, loyal friend of ours.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mark a couple of times before his passing, and am grateful that I did. Even in our brief interactions he was sharp, funny and warm.

Dear Sue & family,
My deepest sympathy to you Sue & all the family on Mark's death. He was a man who will be remembered for his love of his family, his integrity, service to his community & sense of humour.
I am currently overseas otherwise I would attend his funeral.

Dear Sue and Nigel,
Very sorry to hear of Mark's death.He always livened up any gathering with his wonderful sense of humour and a good string of jokes.
As I'm no longer driving I won't be present on Wednesday but will watch the proceedings on line.

Very sorry to read of Mark's passing. My apologies that I can't attend the service as I have a hosiptal appointment myself but later in the day I will have a cold beer for Mark to remember our many visits to the Duke.
