Syd passed away peacefully on his own terms and surrounded by family one day shy of his 97 th birthday, at his home in Onekawa, Napier, which he built himself in 1957. Loved husband of the late Pam (nee Stevens) and beloved wonderful Dad to Grant, and Vicki. Amazing big brother to Ray and Christine, much loved father-in-law to Cushla. Loved uncle to many nieces and nephews, whose lives he always took an interest in.

Special love and thanks from the Watters family to caregiver/companion Adrienne Provan.

A long and large life lived with positive energy and integrity.

A life celebration service for Syd was held in the Dunstall Memorial Chapel, 19 Edwardes St, Napier, on Friday 18 th August 2023 at 11.00am followed by private cremation.

I knew Sid since 2008, and have many good memories working for him.
Sorry to hear of his passing and I wish his family all the best.
He lived a long and fulfilling life from what I know of him.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family of Syd Watters.
I first met Mr Watters (as I called him) as the Dad of my friend Vicki. Mr and Mrs Watters welcomed me into their beautiful home. I spent many a Saturday lunchtime in their presence, with Vicki, and Grant when he was around.
I met Vicki at Onekawa primary school and we have remained in-touch since that time.
I will always remember the gracious presence of Mr Watters and how he enjoyed our company and that he was always interested in what we were up to.
I’m sorry I cannot be there today but are thinking of you Vicki.
