Loved daughter of the late Harold (Harry) and Jean.

Loved sister of Barb (deceased) and Gibby, and Daphne, and Kathleen (deceased).

Dearly loved aunty of all her nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Treasured friend of many.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held in the Dunstall Memorial Chapel, Edwardes Street Napier on Saturday February 11, 2023 at 11am followed by a private cremation.

Please come dressed in bright colours.

Mary, we were neighbour's in Chaucer Rd, I was so pleased to catch up with you at Hampton Court to be able to say a very sincere thank you for acting as a Mother to my Daughter Amina when I was not able. Your passion, acceptance and ?? love for the young was undeniable. I will always be grateful for having the chance to share with you. You were my teacher at 12,the best one ever! My boss and colleague at 22 and a friend into my 40's. You always had a way of nudging me out of my comfort zones without me even realising! I'm so grateful for it because I saw so much more of the world than I probably would have without your encouragement. Thank you Mere. I'll keep our last correspondence always so I can look over it and remember how you sounded every time you greeted me with 'kia ora,my sweet'

I started at Wycliffe Intermediate in 1981 and you were our Kapa Haka teacher. You instilled in me my love for Maori Culture and you were the most amazing, loving teacher. The year of 2000 my oldest started at Wycliffe and as I was walking in with her and you saw me you remembered me as one of your ex students. When my youngest started at William Colenso College was another milestone for my family with you. You really were one of the most amazing teachers and your love for Maori Culture shined throughout your life and you shared it with all your students. More mai ra Whaea Mere.
