ATKINS, Richard Gordon.

The Taradale Cricket Club Guru passed away peacefully on April 6, 2021. Aged 86 years.

Beloved husband of Dorothy (nee Nathan), five days short of 62 years married.

Loved father and father in law of Ian and Holly, Karen and Maurice Leonard, Robyn, and Brenda and Brian Simons. Loved Pop of Ashleigh and Liam, Hannah and Lance, Luke and Danielle, Bella, Libbi, Jessica, Aidan, Lachlan, and Logan. Much loved Great Pop of Caleb, Parker, Lincoln, Lucy, Bowie, Harley, and Matilda.

Thank you to the staff at Atawhai for their care and support given to Richard and his family.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at the Napier War Memorial Centre, Marine Parade, Napier on Sunday April 11, 2021 at 2pm.

Deepest sympathy to Dot & the family. Fondest memories of time with Richard on Indoor Bowls trips. Always a twinkle in the eyes, quiet smile & all round lovely person. His passing will leave a big hole in your lives. Love Darryl & Cheryl

Richard was a Taradale sporting entity. Not only was he passionate about cricket but he was keen to so all sports prosper in the Taradale community. When it came to fundraising with the formation of the Taradale Sports Association Richard was at the coal face doing the hard yards and ensuring we all had a lot of fun in the many fundraising activities undertaken in getting facilities we all wanted. Richard's (and Dot's) support is acknowledged and still very much appreciated
