Passed away on 22 March 2020 in his 95th year.

Dearly loved husband of the late Yvonne.

Loved father of Bruce and Janine; David and Lynne; Joanne and Dennis Lean.

Treasured Poppa of Emma and Kirk, Jillian and Blair, Simon and Kayla; Catherine and Phillip, Aleisha and Tana; Matthew and Niki, Victoria and Chris; and Great Poppa to 13 Great Grandchildren.

Much loved brother of Russell  (deceased),Jeanette and Peter Barker. Will be sadly missed by all. 

A private family service has taken place. Memorial service to be held at a later date.

I am very sorry to learn of Derek's passing and offer my condolences to you, his close family.
Derek and I are related. I admire his work on the Laws Family Tree. Derek's Aunt was my father's mother, My father's mother died in 1926 when he was only a few days old. My father went to live with an aunt on his father's side. Dad (Ken Pratley) died in 2011 and he and Derek kept in touch over the years, I recall meeting Derek's father, Gordon, in the 1970's. I regret not having kept in touch with Derek much since my father died. I would like to establish and keep up contact with members of my father's family. My home phone number is 04 479 6949.

I am the office manager of the Hawkes Bay Multiple Sclerosis Society. Derek very kindly donated his time for many years to collect for our Society, we were very grateful for his help and I was saddened to read of his passing. Please accept our condolences. Stay safe Laws family xx

The members of the Napier Boys' High School Old Boys' Association committee would like to offer their sincere condolences to the family of Derek Laws who was a very valued member of our committee for a number of years. Although Derek had been away from the area for many years his memories and input about his time at NBHS were of huge importance and interest to our Association, especially our Archivist.

Please keep us informed about the date of the Memorial Service as I know there are a number of our committee who would like to attend.

Our thoughts are with Derek's family.
