Passed away peacefully on December 9, 2018.  Loved by his friends and family, the late Pat Riden, Colin, Bruce and Noreen, Stuart and Alison, Helen, Stephen, Susan Keith, Julie.

A celebration of Peters life was held in the Dunstall Memorial Chapel, Edwardes Street, Napier, on Thursday December 13, at 2.00pm, followed by cremation.

To Peter Riden's family;
May I offer my condolence to you at the death of Peter Riden. I was first acquainted with him as a friend of my brother. He wrote to me some years ago because my brother had told him that I grew tobacco. I replied with some description of how to go about this task, and with encouragement that it was quite simple and rewarding. A year or so later he sent me a generous sample of his success. This first sample was packed in a collection of Erinmore Flake tins, which I still have, despite the temptation to sell them to an antique shop. The following year he sent me a carton of tobacco leaves.
Peter reached a ripe old age, for which you may be grateful. May you have strength to sustain you through grief. Please accept the assurance of my prayers for you, Hadyn Pirie.
