Ex Officer In Charge Bay View Fire Brigade

Died suddenly at his home on 16 September 2018, aged 85. Loved husband and best friend of the late Mary. Dearly loved and adored father of Peter and Hazel, the late Rodney, and Karen and Robbie McCann; grandfather of Aaron and Sarah, Braydon and Chanel, Brooke and James, and Jessica; great grandfather of Evelyn.

A celebration of Jack's life was held at King George's Hall, Petane Road, Bay View at 1pm on Friday 21 September 2018, followed by interment at Wharerangi Cemetery, Cato Road, Napier.

Jack Harwood.
I first met Jack when I was appointed Fire Chief in Hawkes in 1982. Jack was the Senior Fire Officer at Bay View.

I found that Jack was a very experienced fire officer and he was a credit to his brigade and to the Fire Service. He was very professional in his work with the fire service and we quickly became very good friends. I want to pass on my condolences to his family and to the Bay View Fire Brigade, as well as to his many friends in Bay View and Hawkes Bay.

It was a privilege to know him and to work with him.

sending my condolences to Peter and all Jacks family. Bill & I knew Jack and Mary well, as did my late husband Ferril Rogers. (In case you didn't know Peter, Bill passed away on the 14th of April this year.)
