21-8-1954 – 14-12-2016.

Suddenly at Hawkes Bay Hospital.  Beloved and adored husband of Pam.  Beloved youngest son of the late Alan and Nita McCarthy.  Loved and cherished brother of Beverley and the late Cecil Dalgleish (Napier), Roger and Glenis McCarthy (Pahiatua), Hilary and the late Graham Richardson (Queensland), Lois and Alex Watson (Napier). Loved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Stepfather to Mick, Bradley, and Scott Coleman (Australia).  Loved pets (Charlie and Suzie).

A funeral service for Gavin was held in the Dunstall Memorial Chapel, Edwardes Street, Napier, on Monday, December 19 2016, at 11am.  Followed by a service in the HB Crematorium.

The best boss I have ever had the pleasure of working for. Thankyou for the two years you have invested into my life, helping me grow in my job and as a person. You will be greatly missed, you are irreplaceable. I will miss your lunchtime stories you told us and your cheeky one liners. "Just nip it, don't go crazy now." Thankyou for everything Gavin.
My condolences to his wife Pam McCarthy and their two dogs Suzie and Charlie and also his family and friends. We are all here to support you and help you with anything that is needed.

My Uncle and old friend, only 2 years apart, we grew up together, you saved me from drowning as a toddler, the many summer holidays, you took me to Napier Boys' High School on my first day, you we in the 5th form, I was in the 3rd form. We were in the 1st eleven soccer team together. Gone too quickly, cut off without enjoying the life's work. .
