Cherished wife of the late Leslie. Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Gail and David Waugh, Graeme and Robyn, Keith and Julie, and Brett and Margaret.
Passed away surrounded by her children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
On a new journey with the man she loved.
A service was held in the Dunstall Memorial Chapel, Edwardes Street, Napier, on Wednesday, January 27 at 11am, followed by private cremation. In lieu of flowers a donation in Dawn’s memory to the Taradale RSA Welfare Fund would be appreciated and can be left at the service.

Dear Gran,

I guess I should start off by saying how stunned I am at this sad turn of events and that I'll probably remain so for a long time yet as it still seems totally surreal.

You were always such a strong lady, you fended off every hurdle that appeared in your path, defeated illness and soldiered on through tragedy like they were merely an inconvenience and yet, you still had time to support and encourage all of us whenever we needed you. While the term 'our rock' is a bit cliche, I feel it is definitely applicable when I think of you. You were like a rock for so many of us to cling to, so many times.

Whether by loving words or thick ear, a scone, a scolding, a hug or a hurtling hairbrush, you always had the measure of me and it often really seemed that you knew me better than I knew myself.
I know you only ever wanted the best for me and could see my potential even if I couldn't and I love you for those reasons,
I will miss you terribly.

It pains me to be in Auckland, crook, while everyone else is there to see you off but I know you would understand.
