Kurly what a shame I missed your funeral I've been in the UK too long. Funerals take ages over here and I was hoping to e mail a few words to be read out. Kurly and I and four others flatted in Napier together around 1973-74 at 2 Napier Terrace. Jury has always been cheeky with a very fast wit. In later years I caught him up and we bounced off each other in texts and on e mail and Facebook. Our birthdays are 3 days apart and we always sent each other messages. Two events I will always remember about Kurly I must repeat here. When in the flat Kurly was the main tenant with his then girlfriend Kaik and there were 4 guys and just Kaik in the flat. We all took turns cooking but when it was Kurlys turn he couldn't cook so Kaik did it for him. Softly and I didn't think this was fair so one day on Kurlys turn we came home after work kidnapped Kaik and took her to the pub. We returned a few hours later and to be fair Kurly had tried to cook. We put our forks in the spuds and they couldn't penetrate, they nearly bent in half. We asked Kurly what he did and he said he put them in the water and as soon as it started boiling he turned it off.. The second event was after one of the huge parties in our flat (It was the party capital of Napier). All the others had bug greed off on the Sunday leaving Kurly and me to clean up. We did this and discovered 3 full bottles of Kalua left over (it had only just been introduced to us). Needless to say Kurly and I polished off those bottles with 18 pints of milk which we had to make numerous trips across the road to get form the dairy after saying just one more. I was lucky enough to see Kurly and Jo nearly 2 years ago when I stayed with them. Kurly and I had a few beers in his treasured garage. Kurly I know you're looking down on us and saying get on with it but we miss you a and your cheek.. Rest in peace my old friend. Love you mate Boyne
