Dad saw his 80th birthday in Ward B2, Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital in July, he then moved to Atawhai and he enjoyed his last months being cared for by the amazing staff. We wish to thank the awesome caregivers that looked after Peter until he passed away on September 6 th 2014.

Loving Dad of Pam and Kevin Burgess. Loved Poppa of Erin and Steve, Annalyse and Bevan, Conor and Baillie, and best mate of Tina the cat.

A celebration of Peter’s life was held at The Dunstall Memorial Chapel, Edwardes Street, Napier on Wednesday September 10, 2014 at 2pm followed by a private cremation. Tributes to Peter can be left at www.dunstalls.co.nz   or posted to PO Box 1055, Napier 4140.

Peter was always the smiling face that greeted me in the office at St Paul's when he attended Enliven. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to attend his funeral service. Peter was a lovely man who will be missed by all who knew him. My condolences to the family. Brenda.

Dear Pam,
My sincere condolences. I haven't seen you for many years, but I did see Peter when I was last home. He showed me his Riverdance video....which started my love of it!
But that is the least of the wonderful memories I have of Peter. He was always so kind and loving and fun and helped me so much when I was learning to live with a disability. He visited me often and was a family favourite. He was family! Nothing was too much trouble for him. He gave of his time and love enthusiastically and freely to all. To me he was a mix of friend, brother, mentor and a loving and special companion.
I am so sorry for your loss, and ours.
He leaves a big, huge space.
