Passed away peacefully on February 13, 2014 at HB Regional Hospital, aged 87 years.

Loved Mum of Brenda, and Warren, and mother-in-law of Ross. Loved Nana of Kim, Lee, and Kris and great Gran of Laura, Liam, William, Lili, and Chloe.

A special thanks to the staff at HBRH Ward B2, for the outstanding care, compassion and support given to Shirley and Warren during her time of illness.

A celebration of Shirley’s life was held in the Dunstall Memorial Chapel on Thursday, February 20 followed by private cremation. In lieu of flowers a donation in Shirley’s memory to the SPCA would be appreciated and can be left at the service. To our dear Nana,
I have such great memories of growing up with you as my Nana. The excitement of driving hours to see you and how it didn't matter if we made a mess everywhere. You always had 3 little piles of treats on top of your piano for us which was one of the highlights of our trip. Animals were allowed inside and on your bed and I don't remember any rules although I am sure there were? Walking with you to the shops with your trolley bag was also a highlight, chatting away with you all the way. I think you were the only one in the family who owned a camera and oh how you used that piece of equipment, photos, photos, photos! The favourite spot was in front of your feijoa tree! We loved to romp your back yard and pick grapes and citrus and see what spooky and old relicts may be in your garden shed. You will always have a very special place in my heart and I feel the world was a much better place for having you in it. I love you Nana. Kim x

Our fingerprints are different, just as there aren't two snowflakes alike, nor two raindrops the same. we are meant to be different. There is no competition or any comparisons to be made. To try to be like another is to shrivel our soul. we have come to this planet to express who we are. Our mother did exactly that. Rest in peace in Mum ... a new journey has now begun. We will miss you.

To Brenda and Warren my thoughts are with you both at the passing of your mother. I met Warren 1963 Nelson Park School where we became best friends and inseparable. Those times were captured on film by your mother Shirley. I was given those photos about 20 years ago when I visited you and your mum. Coloured photos to my surprise and she had written details on the back of each photo. Those memories are special and those photos I cherish. Swan St, the old boating lake and train, Tippy your dog and of course your mum who took good care of us. Bacon and eggs for lunch, Shrewsbury biscuits, how did they get that jam in there. You maybe gone Shirley however those memories I'll hold. Thank you.
