RICHARDS, David Lawrence.

Suddenly on  November 1, 2013. Dearly loved husband & soulmate of Jo. Loving dad of Scott & Olivia. Son of the late Harold and Ruth Richards; Brother and brother in law of Vivienne; and Ian and Carol McKee. Loved uncle to Ann; Leigh; and Darryl Richards. Son in law of Betty and the late Tony Hood.  Brother in law to Susan and Gary Marshall, Mike Hood, Barbara and Chris Hyland, Sally and Warren George, Jane Salisbury and Davey Evenbly, Steve and Tracey Hood, Tracey Hood and Pete O’Connell, Beverly and Stuart Robinson-Hood (uk), Louise and Gary Pidd. Loved Uncle to the Hood nieces and nephews.

A service for Dave was held at St John’s Cathedral, Browning Street, Napier on Friday November 8 2013.

What can I and my mother say about David? There are so many words to some up this great man, but only a short amount of time.

He was an amazing brother to my mother Vivienne. He picked her up when she was down, when their mother passed away. David always helped with the DIY around our house. He would always try it first before calling someone in. Mum admired his athleticism because he made the family proud, when he came first. The cups and ribbons where proudly placed on the mantel piece.The thing Mum going to miss about him is his laughter and cheekiness.

David was like a father to me since I don’t know my own father. True story David and Jo took me in for three years when mum was going through a hard time losing her mother.David was such an influence in my life. I’m going to miss all of the special occasions like, my 21st and my wedding.The one thing I regret not telling him. Is that if and when I got married he was the one who was going to walk me down the aisle.
Rest easy. Play a joke with Mum and Dad.
