FAREWELL AUDREY
My silly little sister - her brother Owen would say, She’s flying in a Tiger Moth for her eightieth birthday.“ You’ll be sick doing loop-the-loop flying over Bluff Hill,” So she waved from up high and her red scarf she let spill. She seemed to travel life’s road with great interest and gracious aplomb, Audaciously forthright - yet had a warmth and caring for everyone. Gardens and flower arrangements, she managed with ease, Letting her orange Mandavillea cover Owen’s garage, if you please. When most of us stopped studying she proved to us all, Completing a Maori History degree she said, kept one’s mind on the ball. Story of family adventures, her historical writings relate, Sharing photos of uncles, cousins, grandparents and good mates. Her late grandfather, father and brother did suffer From hiccups, when drinks were too strong, after lunch or their supper. Audrey - Dear Aunt - you were an inspiration to me, Engaging in life’s experiences - a fine example of how good life can be.
